Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue (CISAR) needs its own form of rescue as it faces foreclosure.
CISAR, the nonprofit group that runs a no-kill animal shelter and low-cost veterinary clinic in Colfax, Illinois, is currently facing foreclosure of their shelter and clinic due to its over $1.1 million in loans that it owes to Heartland Bank and Trust.
Garrie Burr, one of CISAR’s operators, said, “Each year since we opened in 2002 we have taken in about 700 to 1,000 dogs and cats who are in need of a home; we are helping these animals to find a place to go with good living conditions.”
While CISAR’s mission is to help save cats and dogs, they are in serious debt and are looking into options to avoid shutting down and saving themselves. Burr hopes that each party can reach an agreement so that everyone can walk away happy and content with the settlement.
