Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi Settles Investigation Against One of Florida’s Largest Foreclosure Firms

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Today Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a first-of-its-kind settlement against attorney Marshall C. Watson and his law firm, one of the largest foreclosure firms in Florida, for alleged improprieties in the prosecution of foreclosure cases throughout Florida. This settlement, which calls for a $2 million payment and imposition of certain requirements to conduct business, is the first stemming from numerous investigations into Florida foreclosure law firms.

“We are aggressively investigating these law firms in order to protect the interests of everyone involved in foreclosure proceedings. Homeowners, lending institutions and the courts deserve to know that the law is being followed and all documentation is true and accurate,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “Anything short of total assurance of complete accuracy during such serious situations is unacceptable.”

Florida led the nation in the investigation of law firms engaged in the improper production and filing of foreclosure documents. The Marshall Watson firm fully cooperated with the investigation since its inception. Half of the $2 million payment from Marshall Watson’s firm to the Attorney General’s Office will be contributed to the Florida Bar Foundation to continue the Florida Attorney General Mortgage Foreclosure Grant Program. This grant program provides for the funding of Legal Aid attorney positions throughout Florida specifically devoted to the representation of low-income individuals facing foreclosure actions.

The investigations into the practices of several other Florida law firms are ongoing. To access the Assurance of Voluntary Compliance, please click here: http://myfloridalegal.com/webfiles.nsf/WF/SKNS-8FAHED/$file/WatsonAVC.pdf

SHE CALLS HERSELF AN ATTORNEY GENERAL

SHE MIGHT WANT TO TRY MODELING INSTEAD.

THIS IS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL JOKE.

    THANKS A LOT PAM.

YOU’RE A FOOL IF YOU THINK THE EX-HOMEOWNERS IN FLORIDA WHO HAD THEIR HOMES STOLEN FROM THEM ARE HAPPY WITH THIS SETTLEMENT.

YOU DIDN’T EVEN HAVE THE GUTS TO SEE THAT THESE LAWYERS WERE DISBARRED AND PROSECUTED FOR THEIR CRIMES.

    YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

  2. Floridamom says:

What does this mean if one owns a home in foreclosure which originated with Countrywide with a Freddie Mac mortgage and Marshall Watson is the Countrywide attorney? How does this change the foreclosure process? What will Freddie Mac do with these cases?

It looks like from what happened today that Pam Bondi gave Marshall Watson a free pass. Why did Stern get an ass kicking and Marshall Watson didn’t? Didn’t they do the same thing to FL citizens and homeowners?

I am unclear what this change means for people in foreclosure with Freddie Mac mortgages involved in this? Can someone elaborate what this all means?

As one who tried to get Legal Aid to help me I can tell you that was a complete bust. They could care less and haven’t helped anyone I know of. But they got a nice big windfall from Pam their buddy. That’s what this is all about government corruption from the top down I guess.

So where is the other half of the $2 million going? In Pam Bondi’s back pocket?

  3. USNDC says:

What were they fined for ?

    What did they do ?

    I e-mailed her on 01/13/2011

RE. LPS / DOCX of Jacksonville FL.

    Subject Foreclosure Document Fraud.

I want to see prosecution of the robo-signers and their employers who have committed felony fraud against Florida homeowners.
It is a black eye for the judicial system for this to have been unprosecuted for as long as it has.
Prove your not “owned by the banks!”
A failure to evenly apply the law will result in disrespect and contempt of the courts.
I hope you will act to see that this type of behavior never happens again.

Her office replied by giving links to news releases of Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum back in Oct 2010 and says she is playing a leading role on the Executive Committee of the 50 state working group, and was investigating at least 4 foreclosure mills in the state.
And they gave a link to Pam’s electronic newsletter.
    Where is the jail time?
WHAT KIND OF PAYDAY JUSTICE IS THIS!! THIS WON’T STOP SHIT!!
