Things have gotten a bit salty lately at the CityPlace location of the The Salty Donut. The artisanal doughnut shop opened to great acclaim in 2022 at the West Palm Beach mixed-use center. That’s because the Wynwood-based business was voted among the Best Donut Shops in America by the website Thrillist, and the shop’s periodic pop-up appearances at CityPlace drew long lines of doughnut devotees. But a Palm Beach County Court lawsuit filed Jan. 29 by CityPlace Retail alleges that the Instagram favorite was not hitting the sweet spot on the rent. The lawsuit claimed The Salty was behind to the tune of $25,572, not including fees and costs.
