The spring housing market is turning into a bust as new home sales fell 4.7% in April from March’s downwardly revised number, the Census Bureau and Department of Housing and Urban Development said on Thursday.

The April number came in at 634,000 – down from the revised 665,000 for March, which was originally estimated at 693,000. Economists had predicted an April number of 679,000.
