Milwaukee’s red-hot residential real estate market is cooling — but remains healthier than the rest of the country.

Milwaukee sales are holding up better than almost any other large metro area, according to an analysis published Tuesday by real estate broker Redfin. The city ranks number five on a list of slowest-cooling U.S. markets, shortly behind Chicago.

Similar trends are seen in the region: August home sales in the four-county Milwaukee area fell 13.4% compared to last year, according to the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors. Compared to 2020, however, sales are up 3% this year.
