Eviction filings in Dallas County have ticked up steadily as the state’s pandemic relief program that kept many renters from being displaced ran out of funding.
Yet the filings remain below the levels Dallas County recorded before the onset of the pandemic, according to data collected by Dallas nonprofit Child Poverty Action Lab.
“A lot of advocates were worried that we’d wake up one morning and there’d be a 500% increase in the number of evictions filed,” Child Poverty Action Lab senior director Ashley Flores said. “That hasn’t been the case.”
