Evictions: 2,000 Craven County households behind on rent

Evictions rates in Craven County are changing the face of the homeless population and highlighting the critical need for more affordable housing options.

As New Bern continues to grow and attract more residents, it is essential that the stock of affordable housing expands with it.

In October alone, there have been 28 summary ejectments, evictions, filed in Craven County amounting to a total rent debt of $48,596.06. Only one has been a low income-renter receiving aid from HUD, the U.S. Houising Department of Urban Development.
