CAMBRIDGE — Residents who have been told they’re being evicted from an encampment in Cambridge aren’t sure exactly who is evicting them or why.
A half-dozen people are living in the camp on private property in an industrial area near Hespeler Road. Some have been there more than a year.
Two people have been told they must leave the site within 60 days, but have received nothing in writing to explain what’s going on.
And that’s a hard reality to handle for the residents, including the couple who were given notice and have been there the longest.
“I would just like to know why they treat people like this,” the man said from the bed he built in their home, a makeshift wooden cabin. The couple isn’t being identified because he’s sick with cancer and doesn’t want his family to know.
