Even though a federal moratorium on evictions expired in August, Erie County — so far, at least — has not seen a dramatic spike in renters losing their homes.

According to data provided by the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, the number of landlord-tenant complaints filed in Erie County between August and October was markedly lower than the average number of complaints filed in pre-pandemic years.

In October, magisterial district courts in Erie County reported 176 landlord-tenant complaint filings. From 2017 to 2019, the courts averaged 260 filings for the month of October, according to AOPC data.
