A month after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s national eviction moratorium, the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority has extended its moratorium on evictions through the end of the year.

The extension, announced late last week, was implemented by RRHA Interim Chief Executive Officer Stacey Daniels-Fayson as “a final and additional opportunity for RRHA residents who are still behind to catch up” on outstanding rent payments.

The move follows discussions with the RRHABoard of Commissioners and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Develop- ment on the potential impact not collecting rent for the rest year would have.
