Macy Miller is an architect from Idaho that had a BIG dream about a tiny house. She had always wanted a place of her own, but the thought of a mortgage sickened her after she lost her home to foreclosure after getting divorced. So, her dream revolved around building a compact, but beautiful home. For two years, Macy worked on the 196 square-foot home, dedicating her free time to building the small paradise. Finally, construction has finished on her little hideaway… and it’s hard not to be jealous of this place, no matter how small it looks on the outside. After all, it only cost about $11,000.

  1. Papergate says:

Love it! Wish I could hire her to help design!

  2. This is what I have been saying. Rather than rent from the land grabbers or purchase a home from them, Purchase a used motor home and redo it, without owing the banks or giving them a dime and free yourself from debt slavery and the hell the banks put you through. Must be good deals on them with such an economic fall out. Take your home with you anywhere and avoid the big banks.

  3. This is what affordable housing is really about. Not fancy mortgage products, government programs, or subsidies, but houses people can actually afford.

  4. Sarah says:

Right on. The actual cost of the raw materials and the oil dependent car driven sprawl that goes into flimsy timber McMansions is destructive. It might have worked better in days gone by but the so-called American drea is mostly a big racket. Two shipping containers, a small plot and hold the mortgage please.
