A top Washington law firm is suing regulators to hand over information about how it selected consulting firms to participate in a multibillion-dollar review of banks’ past foreclosures.
The reviews, mandated by regulators in 2011 after widespread foreclosure shortcuts came to light, proved slow and expensive, and earlier this year 13 banks agreed to pay $9.3 billion to end them and compensate foreclosed borrowers.
But in a lawsuit in federal court in Washington, D.C., the law firm Williams & Connolly revisited the original reviews.
It is seeking documents explaining how the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency defined “independent” in its requirements for mortgage servicers to hire “independent consultants” to conduct the reviews.

REMEMBER you must look for it because the OCC.gov (my Unit was in Plano TX, I believe from the accent) are worthless during that review process believing they cared only to hear after paying for my home for 20 years this woman “Was not goin to giveme NO free house” My reply was I see it is true, her reply “what’s that true” Occ.gov is in bed with Bank of America. I hung up wasting one year of my life on OCC.gov Customer assistance group, I am # 179390507 and I dispute total debt and any charges of GHOST inspections they claim have done for couple of years and all FedEX packages, Americans bailed the Banks and @USPS.gov SHOULD be the means of communication used by the Banks that took Americans money. AG settlement monies need to help folk like me who have lived poor, depressed and abused by Vice Presidents of the Office of the President of Bank of America.

Judith,had the exact samething happen to me 1/19/10 bowel resect due to rupture of colon due to aggravated stress,mine was GMAC and US Bank.One year later heart attack and three blood clots,3 months later evicted from our home.And still the sharks circled in the water wanting more blood.We should all go after all of them for medical debt and so forth,never mind what they did to our children and familys,Still no real prosecuction.Still waiting.
I am so sorry for you both. I am also in poor health still fighting Wells Fargo. More paperwork that I already filled out. Two mastectomies and spine surgery, all I want to do is die in my own home peacefully, then they can have the place. What is wrong with our government that they do not step in???
