According to a whistleblower’s complaint unsealed in federal court yesterday, Bank of America NA prevented homeowners from receiving mortgage-loan modifications under the federal government’s HAMP program in order to avoid millions of dollars in losses, while benefiting from financial incentives for participating in the program. It raises a lot of questions about all of the new assistance Bank of America is supposed to provide through the recent fraud foreclosure settlement. Roosevelt Institute’s Matt Stoller discusses.
