I read the comments following Buffalo Business First. How sad that Durksen thinks anyone should feel badly for the newly unemployed Baum folks. They should have known that participating in possibly fraudulent activities should cost you your job and your freedom. There needs to be a price to pay where ever and whenever persons are found engaging in such activities. As for the lawyers who Durksen suggests should not be blamed because the banks did not submit the proper documents – whatever happened to the notion that lawyers as officers of the court have an obligation to not participate in submiting “erroneous” documents that deceive the courts as to the real truth of the situation being litigated. Most of us think that lawyers are supposed to refuse to participate in such deception. If Durksen’s wife worked as part of any activity that might ultimately be deemed illegal, she should be happy if she only loses her job and not her freedom or forfeiture of some of the financial gains she made by participating. And the final straw for most good and decent law-abiding citizens was the Baum employees’ egregious act of mocking the most unfortunate victims of this whole mortgage meltdown scandal. Even the most kind hearted among us have difficulty mustering even a miniscual bit of sympathy for the folks who worked at the Baum firm.
I think even more than the law firm, the document processing firm Baum created, Pillar Processing, should be thoroughly investigated. This entity is where the robo-signed and other fraudulent documents they used in foreclosures were generated. Pillar Processing is also doing the same thing in Connecticut with a lawfirm related to Baum’s which so far at least does not seem to be implicated.

You speak as though you have some person evidence that anything unlawful actually occurred. Have you ever considered that every single one of the people that they litigate against has an enormous interest in claiming there was some massive fraudulent conspiracy…so that they can stay in their house for another few months even though they know they have no ability to afford the mortgage? There is proof that a few people dressed up in offensive costumes a year ago– that’s good reason for people to hate those employees, but a few bad apples dont mean a whole company is “evil.” I thnk people are just looking for someone to blame for a horrible economy and a lack of jobs…neither of which this firm had anything to do with.
Isn’t this the same firm whose employees dressed as homeless people for Halloween making fun of people who lost their homes? Oh, the irony…..

A little justice is nice to read. I think they fail to understand how unfunny homeless happens to be. Millions are just a small event away from losing everything. I am presently in a fight with a depressingly mean Home owners association. The association is located near Hilton Head, South Carolina. They are responsible for maintenance of the sewer system but they do not even have a system to make complaints. They inspect my property 10 times a month and they complain on items like not enough mulch in the garden. My mulch is full of nasty red ants and they come from the sewer. I have many times done everything possible to destroy the red ants on my property but they come back from the very poorly maintained sewer. I tried to pull the weeds from my garden last summer and got bite about 100 times by red ants. I had at least 25 big puss blisters on my legs from the bites. I fell one time running from being covered by ants and ended up with three broken ribs. The broken ribs caused my back problems to return and I now need an operation to fix my back. So there people who control and ruin our lives are clueless in the harm and mean things that they cause. I sure hope the next firm that goes belly up is my Home owners association which as far as I can determine is hated by every homeowner except for three who now some how voted themselves into office and now close meetings or schedule meetings at odd times to insure that no one votes them out of office.
One woman actually votes her “separate” real estate operation “management” contracts which cost the homeowners an unknown amount of money but I am sure it is excess. I know I got hit with $300 in fines for my lawn including the mulch. BTW I am official a person with disability. The next meeting of the homeowners assocation is in a building with a huge stairway and no handicap ramps. They really want me to die and I am sure they are sucking up all the homes that are going into default on the mortgage.
So this heartless law firm is just one of many terrible organizations which abuse and ruin the American dream of home ownership.
I can only hope that all of these baseless suggestion of humans realize what they have dumped on good families, good soldiers, good Americans. I hope that they experience the plummet off their $500 dollar shoes, I hope they experience being hungry, lost. I normally would never wish this but this is in desperate need of a karmic slap…which I am now begging the Universe to do…a bitch slap is in order. What do you think?
